Thank you for your interest in the Modern Elder Academy! We’re delighted that you’re taking this step on your midlife journey.

In order to review your request to join this workshop, we ask that you fill out this application. This helps us to ensure a successful group experience for all of our attendees. We aim for small, diverse cohorts—about 18 - 24 people from many backgrounds and experiences—so that you can have the richest experience possible.

Tuition and Financial aid


Tuition

  • $5,500 USD per person for a private room
  • $4,000 USD per person for a shared room


To reserve your space, we require a 50% deposit (you may pay 100%) at the time of application. Your acceptance will be confirmed within 3-5 business days. If we are unable to confirm acceptance, your deposit will be automatically refunded. Balance is due 30 days before the start of the workshop.

Tuition includes airport transfers, accommodation, meals, curriculum, yoga, meditation, off-campus explorations and other festivities.

Financial aid

As a social enterprise, the Modern Elder Academy is committed to socio-economic diversity and offers two financial aid categories on a need-aware basis:

  • Gold Financial Aid: Students are responsible for $3000 tuition (choosing this level will add you to an upgrade waitlist for a private room, but this is not guaranteed)
  • Platinum Financial Aid: Students are responsible for $500 tuition

Financial aid is for shared room accommodation. Exceptions for specific medical or personal conditions may be considered.

Please consider the following financial aid criteria before applying:

  • You must demonstrate financial need.
  • Your application must be received at least 6 weeks prior to the workshop start date.

We contact financial aid recipients within 5 weeks of our workshops. Financial aid tuitions are due in full within five business days of announcement.

Deposit and Tuition Payment Policy


For full-tuition students, a 50% deposit is due at the time of your application. Your acceptance will be confirmed within 3-5 business days. If we’re unable to confirm acceptance, your deposit will be automatically refunded. The balance is due 30 days before the start of your workshop.

Financial aid applicants will be notified of acceptance either within 3-5 business days for Gold Award level or within five weeks prior to the start of the workshop for Platinum Award level. Tuition is due in full within five business days of the award notification.


Our Cancellation, Refund and Transfer Policy


As you read through our policies, please note we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover unforeseen illness, travel complications, flight interruptions, and other emergencies. You can get multiple quotes from Square Mouth.


Our 24-hour Cancellation Policy

Planning a trip to Mexico can be complicated. Rest assured you can cancel your workshop application and request a full refund of your deposit payment within 24-hours of booking with no penalty.


MEA Cancellations

In the unlikely event MEA must cancel a workshop due to unforeseen circumstances, you will receive a full refund or be offered to transfer your payments to another workshop at no fee. For participants needing to cancel after our 24-hour grace period, our policy is as follows:


Cancellation Fees

MEA understands life events can pop up, making traveling to your planned workshop not possible. Should you need to cancel your attendance to your planned workshop our policy is as follows:

  • 30+ days prior to workshop start date, refund minus 5%
  • 14 - 29 days prior to workshop start date, refund minus 25%
  • <14 days prior to workshops start date, non-refundable - see transfer options


Transfer Fees

Should you need to cancel your original workshop, and wish to retain your payments made, we can accommodate transfer requests to another published workshop, based on availability. One-time transfers must be made within 14 days of cancellation and can be transferred to a friend or family member if you are unable to reschedule yourself.

  • 30+ days prior to the workshop start date, transfer fee of $125
  • 14 - 29 prior to the workshop start date, transfer fee of $250
  • <14 days prior to workshops start date, transferable fee of $500


COVID Policy and Passport Check


Mexico does not require a test to enter the country. While we also do not require proof of a negative COVID test, we kindly request that each of our guests get their own negative test result – administered within 24 hours of arrival - to help ensure the safety of all participants and staff at MEA.

Mexico does require a valid passport to enter the country. Please check the expiration date of your passport prior to confirming your workshop and ensure it is valid at least 3 months after the duration of your trip.
